Heat Coach Resigns

Miami Heat coach Stan Van Gundy resigned today citing personal reasons. The Heat president and ex-coach Pat Riley will take over imediately. Riley, Van Gundy and team owner Micky Arison will announce the changes at an 11 a.m. news conference.
Van Gundy's job status has been the subject of speculation in South Florida for months, starting when Riley -- his mentor -- said shortly after the Heat's 2005 playoff run ended that he decide to take a larger role in the team's day-to-day operations. That comment, which seemed innocuous at the time, set off a storm of speculation that Riley was planning to dismiss Van Gundy and take over a team. Riley and Van Gundy had a meeting in which Riley assured the coach of his job security.

"Undefeated So Far"

The Indianapolis Colts continue on with their quest to win the Super Bowl and to go undefeated. The 1972 Miami Dolphins are the only team to achieve such a season. I have a hard time believing in this team. I watch them and I see that there offense is almost unstoppable, but I still question their heart. In the past they would always crumble win they played a team that would smack them in there mouths, they could never beat a team that wasn't intimidated by there illusions. I wonder if they get into a game where things aren't going there way on offense, can they will out a win. When this happens I will believe in these Colts.

"I Just Don't Know???"

I really don't know if I should be cheering for these rambunctious group of Dolphins or wishing they were losing a lil bit more. They pulled off one of the biggest upsets this year in San Diego yesterday. Coming back on the field after the half and to put it simple, beat the Chargers. But it leaves me to wonder, if I want them to win. This team has holes all over the place. The team has a defense that is aging fast, and the quaterback looks like Brady one day and Ryan Leaf the other. All I know is that I love to see these Dolphins win, but these wins are costing. The draft is where we are going to find our next Marino, our next Zach Thomas, and the next Patrick Surtain(Damn I miss Pat Surtain). I just hope Saban and the front office know what they are doing, because I don't know what to do. So I'll just sit back on Sundays with my cold beer and wings and wonder what to do.

"Not ready yet."

Miami Heat Center Shaquille O'Neal practiced for the first time on Tuesday. After practice, he stated that he would not be able to play tonight against the San Antonio Spurs. He expects to be back in the lineup next week. During practice he stated that it was more conditioning than the tenderness of the ankle.

University of Miami invited to participate in the Peach Bowl

The University of Miami may not be playing in a BCS bowl, but the matchup with LSU may be one of the best bowl games. The game with the ninth ranked Canes against the tenth ranked Tigers, will be played on Dec. 30th in the Georgia Dome. ''We got a good one,'' Coker said. ``Our players know that, and they're going to respond. When we have a challenge like LSU, we expect to be at our best. And I certainly believe we will.'' The Hurricanes played Florida last year at the Peach Bowl with a 27-10 win.

"Why, Why, Why?"

I was born in Miami in 1979. While growing up I always watched sports with my dad and brother. And the only team that ever won in Miami besides the great Hurricane teams, are the Florida Marlins. The Dolphins always found a way to disappoint us, year in and year out. The Dolphins would start the season 6-0 and find a way to miss or barely make the playoffs. But these Marlins always kept it interesting. There first championship shocked the country, and there second stopped the world. A team of young hungry kids going up against the "Evil Empire" Yankees. How are we going to allow them to leave our state? I know that spending money on entertainment looks bad in a time when hurricanes come and go like the snowbirds. But this city needs a team that can win. We have already given up almost all of our wonderful pitchers, but let's not give up this team. It will take a few years, but with the new prospects coming in, and the excellent front office that we have, we can come back from this. This team belongs in Miami and we owe them our loyalty. The city, team and state need to come together to keep this team in Miami. It will be a sad day when I have to watch the San Antonio Marlins.

"We need you Big Daddy, we need you."

The Miami Heat are on a west coast trip that is starting to turn for the worst. The loss to the Denver Nuggets and now the LA Clippers is showing everyone how important Shaq O'Neal is to the equation. Just having him in the lane allows for all the other players to come into there own. Dwyane Wade is trying to carry this team along with Center Alonzo Mourning. But the other cast members need to be more consistent. Udonis Haslem hasn't shown any growth from last year. Mr. Antoine Walker had his worst game as a member of the Heat going 0-10 from the field. I know, I know you are saying that once Shaq gets back and they get time to gel this team will be a force. Yes, I certainly agree, but some of these losses shouldn't be happening. Great teams beat the teams that they are supposed to. I guess I will just have to sit here and wait till Big Daddy comes back to work.

"Was the comeback a good or bad thing?"

The Miami Dolpins came back to beat the Buffalo Bills 24-23 on sunday. But, was this a good thing for the future of this team. The Dolphins aren't going anywhere this season except home in late December. The team now needs to think about what personnel are going to be needed next year. The play of our young linebackers is a brightspot, but there are lots of holes in this team. The quarterback position is the most glaring need for this team, and the draft is the answer. But with every win the Dolphins only hurt their chances at getting Notre Dame's Quinn. Another problem they have is at the cornerback position. Even though DB Sam Madison came up with a big pick to keep Miami in the game, his hefty salary and decaying ability is evident. And the other problem is the recieving corp, with "Butterfingers" Chambers. This guy can have games of 200 plus yards but when we need a simple 10 yard catch, the ball seems to never stick. His so called potiential should have shown up by now. Players making large salaries should play large and he isn't.
